SUPPORT & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

There is more to life than just WORK!  In addition to the daily responsibilities of work and family, we try to serve others in our local area.  Even as we are super busy with our own lives, we feel it is important to reach out to those in need.

Our family participates in church, school and the community. There are endless outreach/volunteer opportunities here in Bastrop. I have listed a few topics near and dear to our hearts.  At the bottom of this page, we also list other organizations that might peak your interest.  Take a look - you might have a special talent just waiting to find a purpose!

HOSPICE VOLUNTEER

Going on three years, we have enjoyed serving as hospice volunteers at Silver Pines Nursing Home (located behind HEB). Most of you drive past SP every day, with little thought of the lives inside. For me personally, spending time with my many friends at Silver Pines is more rewarding than any words on paper.  Ask me about hospice and how you might be of service to some who have little or no family surrounding them.  During this tender time in the hospice patient's life - a volunteer can really make a difference!

Typically, I spend one to two hours a week visiting with my designated hospice friends.  We talk, reminisce, hold hands - or just sit outside and watch the sunset.  I might trim/paint fingernails, brush hair, hang pictures or simply wheel them around the parking lot for a walk.  A little time brings a lot of joy!  Thanks for reading... and feel free to ask me about what it means to be a hospice volunteer.

UNITED STATES MILITARY

I am a US Army veteran.  I served with the prestigious 313th Military Intelligence Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC.  Both of our extended families have a rich military history to include the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines!  We participate and coordinate with many different military support groups.  Three of those groups are shown here.

Take a minute and check these links out - some amazing stories of survival and recovery.  Are you in the military or prior service? Let me know!  We love our country and we love our military.  GOD BLESS THE USA!
